<< BackAlumni and Students Give Thanks to UC in Various Ways
Everyone
shows thanks in their own way, including current students and alumni of Utica
College. Giving thanks and giving back
often go hand-in-hand, and this is shown by members of the UC family.
One
example of such generosity is demonstrated by an alumnus from the Class of 1972. He is retiring from Utica National after a
long and successful career. For his
retirement party, in lieu of a gift, he has requested a donation to Utica
College. Not only is this alumnus being
selfless and thoughtful, he is encouraging others to support his alma mater.
Another
great story is that of an alumna from the Class of 1988. She lives in the Boston area and made a trip
to Utica College for a Happy Hour Pub Event hosted by the NAC and the Class of
2010. She generously helped pay for the
event along with other National Alumni Council members. During the event, a special birthday cake was
brought out for one of the Trustee members, who also attended the event from
out of town, from Virginia. The two are
close friends, and the alumna surprised her former fellow classmate. Although embarrassed (the band who played the
event, Poor Tim, led the group in singing “Happy Birthday”), he appreciated the
thought and is thankful for the close friendships he has made through UC.
One
more story of thanks involves the entire UC men’s ice hockey team. Recently, the head coach spoke to him team
about the importance of supporting the College.
The message rang load and clear.
On the spot, every member of the team, freshmen through seniors, pitched
in their own cash to participate in the All for One challenge. The team’s support is inspiring and other
teams plan to do the same.
Many UC alumni, parents,
faculty/staff, and friends have given thanks to UC over the years in various
ways. To both those past and present, thank you for giving back to
UC. Your continued support and loyalty is truly appreciated.
